aloSIM is a relatively new eSIM service, but it’s already a top favorite for many travelers. It provides instant internet access in 170+ countries across the globe, allowing travelers to save on expensive roaming fees and avoid juggling multiple SIM cards or relying on Wi-Fi.

What is aloSIM?

aloSIM was created by AffinityClick, a Canada-based communications software company. The eSIM service has a variety of affordable plans, offering pay-as-you-go travel data. I was impressed to find that aloSIM had eSIM plans for every country I searched on its site. It also has an array of regional plans covering a good portion of the globe.

How does this eSIM work? aloSIM is like any other eSIM service; users are connected to local network careers in each country it operates. The service makes it easy to stay connected while abroad. aloSIM only supports 5G, 4G, and LTE, so its speeds are pretty fast.

aloSIM also has regional plans for travelers visiting multiple countries in one part of the world. For example, the aloSIM eSIM Europe regional plan covers 34 countries in Europe, including all the top destinations like Spain, France, Greece, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the UK, and Turkey.

My research showed that while the eSIM service offers multiple plans for Europe, Asia, and the Americas, it doesn’t have regional plans for other parts of the world.

aloSIM data plans

aloSIM offers flexible mobile data plans that are priced competitively. I love that it’s easy to top-up an eSIM when it runs out of data; this is handy as users don’t need to set up a new eSIM every time.

aloSIM has both single-country plans and regional packages. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer global eSIM plans at this time, but aloSIM’s regional plans are comprehensive, particularly for travelers visiting Asia, Europe, or the Americas.

While conducting tests for this aloSIM review, I found that the eSIM doesn’t directly support phone calls. However, users get a free phone number (corresponding with their destination) from aloSIM’s sister service, Hushed. This free number comes with 30 minutes for calling and 50 texts. However, users must download a different app to make calls and send text messages via Hushed.

Prepaid data

aloSIM only offers prepaid data plans. This eSIM service has local data plans for over 170 countries. The prices of these plans vary, and they come with different data allowances and durations:

aloSIM eSIM data allowance 1 GB 2 GB 3 GB to 20 GB
Duration 7 days 15 days 30 days

While aloSIM’s longest local data plans are only valid for 30 days, its regional data plans have a much longer duration — up to 180 days. These are the typical data allowances and durations of aloSIM’s regional data plans:

aloSIM eSIM data allowance 1 GB 2 GB 3 GB to 10 GB 50 GB 100 GB
Duration 7 days 15 days 30 days 90 days 180 days

How to get aloSIM card?

There are two ways to get an aloSIM card: via the aloSIM website or app. I tried both when researching this provider, to see how easy-to-use each option is and whether they differ in terms of functionality.

  1. Visit the aloSIM website.
  2. Choose a destination or click “Shop eSIMS now” for a complete list of aloSIM’s local and regional data plans. aloSIM eSIM Review data packages

How to use aloSIM eSIM?

Like other eSIMs, aloSIM’s eSIM card needs to be activated before it will start working. Activating some eSIMs can be tricky, but aloSIM makes the process straightforward. I’ll explain how to activate aloSIM on an iPhone or Android device.

How to activate aloSIM eSIM on an iPhone or iPad:

Here’s how to activate aloSIM eSIM on an Android device:

aloSIM has extensive guides on how to install its eSIM on different Android devices. I’m using a Samsung device, so the guide will show how to activate the eSIM on a Samsung device. The process isn’t very different for other Android devices.

aloSIM customer support

aloSIM provides 24/7 customer support via email and live chat. While testing the service for this aloSIM review, I reached out to their customer support team multiple times via the live chat option on their site, and I received prompt responses.

aloSIM’s customer support staff provided detailed answers to my questions. They even sent a follow-up email to ask if I had any other questions. Overall, I received excellent support.

Why do you need eSIM?

There are many advantages of using an eSIM, especially for travelers. Getting a physical SIM in a new country can be a time-consuming and headache-inducing process. An eSIM eliminates the hassle of figuring out how to stay connected in a new country, allowing users to access the internet, make calls, and send text messages freely.

Here are a few reasons why getting an aloSIM eSIM is an excellent idea:

  • Cut costs: eSIM plans are generally cheaper than roaming charges. So, it’s a great way to save money and stay connected.
  • One eSIM for multiple destinations: Instead of getting a new SIM card in every country I travel to, I simply load a new aloSIM plan and keep using the same eSIM. This means I don’t have to change SIM cards. eSIM services like aloSIM offer flexible plans to suit the needs of different travelers.
  • Easy to use: No one enjoys having to figure out how to get a SIM card in a new country. This can be very confusing, especially if there’s a language barrier. With an eSIM, I’m connected the second my plane touches down.
  • Improved safety: While public Wi-Fi is convenient, it exposes users to major risks. Using an eSIM eliminates the need to rely on public Wi-Fi, keeping users away from the cross-hairs of threat actors.

Is my phone compatible with aloSIM?

Most new smartphones are compatible with aloSIM and other eSIMs. The easiest way to check if a device is compatible with aloSIM is to go to your phone Settings > Connections > SIM Manager and see if there’s an option to add or set up an eSIM.

Another way to check a device’s compatibility with aloSIM is by looking at the device’s specifications.

Conclusion: Is aloSIM good eSIM?

Yes, aloSIM is a good eSIM service for short-term and long-term travelers. It offers flexible and affordable plans.

I found aloSIM easy to set up, and its coverage spans over 170 countries. The aloSIM app was also user-friendly, and its customer support team was very helpful. Overall, aloSIM is an excellent eSIM service, and I highly recommend it.
