Best VPNs with dedicated or static IP address

Best VPN with dedicated or static IP

When you're connected to a VPN server, you use a dynamic IP address. It means countless other users share the same IP, which isn’t the best when you're trying to access services with strict anti-VPN measures. Once such websites detect suspicious activity, you face the threat of being blocked.

There’s a solution – VPNs with dedicated IP addresses. Only one user has access to the IP, which helps in several ways. It decreases the chances of getting blacklisted, helps avoid captchas, and even lets you securely access work resources. Not every VPN service offers dedicated IPs, though. That’s why I curated a list of the best dedicated IP VPNs.

Best VPN services with dedicated IPs in 2024: shortlist

How I choose a dedicated or static IP VPN

Picking the best VPN with a dedicated IP is not an easy task. First, you have to choose the right provider and see if it has a good dedicated IP deal. Thus, I present you with the key criteria to look at:

  • Several IP locations. The VPN should have dedicated IP options in several countries, not just a single one.
  • Great speeds. Due to encryption, the connection inevitably becomes slower. Choose a fast VPN with the latest tunneling protocols, like WireGuard, or proprietary protocols.
  • Solid security and privacy. When possible, pick a service outside of the Fourteen Eyes alliance. Also, look for an independently audited or court-proven no-logs policy. Finally, never overlook AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, and leak protection.
  • Reasonable price. A dedicated IP VPN doesn’t have to be expensive. Always look at the value you get and if there’s a money-back guarantee in case of a change of mind.

Surfshark sticks out from the bunch by offering both static IP servers and dedicated IP. With the former, I got assigned the same IP address whenever I connected to the same. The caveat is that other people using the same server will also get an identical IP. Subscribers can pick from 6 countries – Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, the UK, and the US.

Then there's the dedicated IP addresses, which cost extra. Currently, you can get one in the US, the UK, and the Netherlands, and more locations will become available in the future. Besides all this, Surfshark also offers MultiHop servers. These add an extra layer of security by routing my traffic through several regions instead of one.

Of course, Surfshark comes with plenty of other perks. A fleet of 3200+ servers in 100+ countries, the WireGuard tunneling protocol, CleanWeb, and split tunneling are just a few of many. Finally, there’s no device limit, letting you secure every device you own.

Surfshark is available for 86% off. The 30-day money-back guarantee backs up all subscriptions, so you won’t lose your money. And if testing the waters is what you want, do so via the 7-day free trial.

You can get a dedicated IP with CyberGhost, too. The location list covers 10 countries, some of which are the US, Canada, the UK, France, and Germany. What’s unique about this provider is its token system. Once I activate the dedicated IP token, it’s wiped from the company’s servers, meaning it can’t be traced back to me or my account.

CyberGhost supports dedicated IPs on all major OS, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and even Apple TV. Depending on the VPN subscription, it costs as little as $2.50/month extra. Getting it if you already have an account is also easy. Just log into CyberGhost’s website, request a dedicated IP address in the 'My Account' section, and finalize the purchase.

Overall, CyberGhost is a top-notch service, with 11700+ servers across 100+ countries. It has dedicated gaming, streaming, and torrenting servers, boosted by the WireGuard protocol. As for security, you benefit from split tunneling, an ad & malware blocker, and a free SOCKS5 proxy.

At the moment, CyberGhost costs 84% less and comes with 3 extra months for free. A 45-day money-back guarantee is also there if you want to commit from the get-go. And if you need to take it out for a spin first, there’s a free 7-day trial on iOS.

The selection is neither small nor big, with just the right options to stop worrying about getting blacklisted for someone else’s digital behavior.

The service offers a dedicated IP add-on for only $2.99/month, and you can get multiple of them if needed. Installing the add-on is possible on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and even routers. This way, all household devices will connect to the internet via the same IP address.

Based in the privacy-friendly British Virgin Islands, PureVPN uses military-grade encryption and the WireGuard protocol. A subscription nets you access to 6500+ servers in 71+ countries, most of which are 10 or 20 Gbps. Further, the service comes with split tunneling, port forwarding, and Wi-Fi security.

PureVPN is now 90% off with 3 months free. There’s a 31-day money-back guarantee that insures your purchase and a 7-day trial. Keep in mind that it isn’t free, though, and you’ll have to pay $0.99 to try it.

How I tested VPNs with dedicated IP

While having a dedicated IP address is the main criterion, it’s not the only one. The service itself has to be of high quality. Thus, I paid close attention to these aspects as well:

  • Dedicated IP price. Some dedicated IP VPNs offer this feature for free, while others charge a monthly fee. The cost depends on its location, type, and other factors.
  • Additional security. Besides the essentials, it's great if the service is suitable for other online activities. Bonus points were added for such perks as ad & malware blockers, split tunneling, multihop, obfuscated servers, specialty servers, etc.
  • Global coverage. I switch to regular servers whenever I want to unblock specific region-locked content. But I can't do much if there are almost no country choices. So, a server network that covers all continents is essential.
  • Customer support. If I have trouble setting up the dedicated IP or the VPN in general, it’s nice to have people who will help me at a moment’s notice. I prioritized 24/7 live chat support with responsive agents.

Considering these and many other factors, NordVPN comes out as the best dedicated IP VPN service. They don’t cost much, have plenty of location choices, and are easy to get. Furthermore, the provider offers some of the best security measures in the industry, along with excellent speeds for a smooth online experience.

NordVPN's dedicated IP option comes at $5.83/month extra. You can pick from 10 regions scattered across the globe and use the IP on two devices simultaneously. Benefit from an easier online life today!

What is a dedicated IP?

A dedicated IP is a unique address assigned to each user on an individual server. This ensures I always have the same IP address when connected to that server.

As such, it’s an essential technique for bypassing geo-restrictions without being noticed. It’s also handy for accessing any service with a password-protected account. For instance, connecting to my online banking through various (shared) IP addresses will, understandably, lock my account.

But is a dedicated IP VPN faster? Not necessarily. While I have my individual IP address, technically, I still use the same server as other subscribers. The server load remains the same as a regular one’s, so the speeds also tend to stay the same.

Differences between dynamic and static IP

IP type Dedicated IP Static/Dynamic IP
Changes every time of connection No Yes
Shared among multiple users No Yes
Costs extra Yes No
Higher level of anonymity No Yes
Easily traceable Yes No
More likely to be blacklisted No Yes

When it comes to VPN IP addresses, it can be done in two ways. Either you’re the only one using an IP address (dedicated IP), or you’re just connecting through a server and getting a public IP (static/dynamic IP).

Dedicated IPs get assigned to a single user, and every time I connect to a VPN, my IP will be the same. If you have a basic VPN subscription where you select and connect to servers scattered around countries, it’s a shared IP with a high amount of people using them. Each time you might get assigned a different IP address as well.

Advantages and disadvantages of dedicated IP

Advantages of dedicated IPs Disadvantages of dedicated IPs
✔️ Only one user ❌ Extra price
✔️ Avoid geo-blocking ❌ DDoS attacks
✔️ Personal P2P download cap ❌ Easier to trace
✔️ Improved performance
✔️ No "bad neighbor" effect
✔️ Fewer CAPTCHAs
✔️ IoT protection
✔️ Easy 2FA
✔️ Email deliverability

First of all, it is easy to unblock Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and other streaming platforms. That’s because you're treated like a local user who wants to watch a TV show available in their country.

Secondly, some torrent sites might limit the amount of data that can be downloaded from one IP address. With a dedicated IP, no other user can affect this and your reputation. What’s more, a single user doesn’t share their VPN traffic, meaning increased performance.

In my experience, a dedicated IP also simplifies my online life. In addition to fewer CATPCHAs to prove I’m not a bot, I’ll be treated as the same user when using two-factor authentication (2FA). Moreover, my emails won’t go to spam, which often happens with dynamic IPs.

Unfortunately, there are some disadvantages as well. First and foremost, you may become an easier target for hackers and DDoS attacks – they know it’s always you behind that IP. Your traffic will also stand out unless there’s no link between your dedicated IP and your VPN account.

How to get a dedicated IP address with NordVPN

The process of getting a dedicated IP differs from one provider to another. But generally speaking, most follow the same steps. I’ll use NordVPN as an example:

  1. Head to the provider’s website and select your wanted VPN subscription NordVPN dedicated IP add-on
  2. Pick a dedicated IP from the available add-ons and complete the purchase
  3. Activate the dedicated IP by following your provider's instructions. Ask customer support for help if needed. NordVPN dedicated IP servers
  4. Start enjoying your new dedicated IP!

Get the best dedicated IP VPN

Should I get a dedicated IP VPN?

If you want an encrypted server only you can use, getting a dedicated IP is definitely worth it. In fact, they are recommended if you want to:

  • Remotely access work or private systems in a secure manner
  • Prevent the chance of getting locked out of your bank account
  • Lower the possibility of getting blacklisted by platforms and services that block VPNs
  • Log into online accounts without the need to go through CAPTCHAs
  • Block cyber criminals from trying to access IoT devices
  • Improve online gaming and lower ping

Bottom line

If you want a VPN IP address all for yourself, I strongly recommend getting a dedicated IP. While they do cost extra, usually, it’s not much more than pocket change, especially for the advantages you’re getting. Still, it all depends on the VPN service offering this feature.

Overall, the best VPN with a dedicated IP is NordVPN, now 74% off. Providing remarkable value for money, excellent security, and unparalleled performance, you need to look no further than this superb piece of software. This provider reliably keeps your information safe and secure.

This statment about CyberGhost’s token systen for dedicated IP address … “….Once you activate the dedicated IP token, it’s wiped from the company’s servers, meaning it can’t be traced back to you or your account.”, is FALSE.

am a Netflix fan and love to binge watch latest additions from US library… I use a VPN to spoof my location to the US, but few months’ back my VPN was banned by Netflix and I was unable to access US media library… This article helped me a lot, as now I have a dedicated IP VPN which successfully bypasses the Netflix VPN detection… Cheers!

If there are 20 people accessing a website through the same network from different machines, all of them will have the same IPs. How can you tell if any of these users are using a VPN?

Thanks for your opinion!
