Best Warzone VPN in 2024 – get bot lobbies easily
Call of Duty: Warzone 3 continues to lead the FPS genre, but finding easier bot lobbies to boost your KD ratio can be a challenge—unless you use a VPN. With skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) constantly matching you with tougher opponents, a VPN for Warzone offers a clever way to access less intense lobbies.
By connecting to a VPN, you can join matches in regions where Warzone 3 players are less active, such as Singapore, Kenya, and Nigeria. This gives you a higher chance of entering bot lobbies and making gameplay more manageable and relaxed. Alternatively, you can connect to servers in time zones where it's earlier in the day for a similar effect.
After testing over 20 VPNs on my PS5, I found the best VPN for Warzone 3 that consistently provided easier lobbies and protected against DDoS attacks, doxxing, and SWATing.

Why should I use a VPN for Warzone?
You should use a best VPN for Warzone to avoid being pitted against highly skilled players as a result of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). SBMM is supposed to ensure fairness so that no player gets continually schooled by players far more experienced than them. Unfortunately, it also stops you from getting into casual games where you can take your finger off the trigger from time to time. A VPN lets you change your location, helping you bypass SBMM and access bot lobbies, which can boost your kill/death ratio and enhance your leaderboard position. Here are additional benefits you'll gain from using a VPN:
- Access bot lobbies: Time of day and region are important factors in SBMM. If you connect to a VPN server in a country with a different time zone, you can encourage lower player counts and increase your chances of bot lobbies.
- Avoid ISP throttling: When you use a lot of data – and gaming uses tons – your internet provider can throttle your speed. This causes ping to skyrocket, leading to lag, rubber banding, and disconnections. But they can’t throttle someone they can’t see – so download a VPN to hide your IP address and sidestep throttling.
- Dodge hackers: When stakes are high, I’ve seen malicious players trace opponents’ IP addresses and launch DDoS attacks to disconnect them from the game. If you hide your IP address with a reliable, leak-proof VPN, you can’t be targeted.
- Improve your ping: Ping can shoot up due to unstable connections, bandwidth throttling, user volume, and more. Get a VPN with dedicated gaming servers and, even better, a dedicated IP address to avoid all of these issues.
- Play on restricted networks: Bored at work or school and unable to play Warzone via remote play due to network content restrictions? One of the best advantages of a VPN is that it can smash through such content blocks, letting you play Warzone wherever you are.
After Activision decided to end the DMZ game mode, I moved over to Warzone. The action’s a lot more intense and competitive, which is why I’ve relied on the above process to access bot lobbies and avoid sweating in highly-experienced games when I just want to catch a breather.
You can do the same – with NordVPN. I chose this VPN because it delivered incredible speeds of almost 400 Mbps while connected, as well as offering dedicated IP addresses that avoid lag caused by sharing a VPN server with others.

Surfshark VPN is a great alternative Warzone VPN, mostly thanks to unlimited simultaneous connections – I could access bot lobbies in other countries while my partner unblocked foreign streaming content. Moreover, lag-free gameplay is guaranteed by several things – bare-metal hardware, 8+ Gbps servers, and the in-house WireGuard protocol. As with my other recommended best VPNs for Warzone, Norton VPN has all the security basics checked off, including a kill switch to ensure that your IP address isn’t exposed and keep your connection to bot lobbies uninterrupted.

It made it really easy for me to find VPN servers in niche locations like Singapore, where there are fewer COD players and emptier servers. How I tested and selected the best Warzone VPNs
While most VPNs are suitable for gaming, it doesn’t mean they will work great with Call of Duty: Warzone. Thorough testing is needed to make sure not only that a VPN can actually get you Warzone bot lobbies, but also that it doesn’t cause problems with your connection that make the game unplayable.
That’s why I’ve tested over 28 VPNs to see which are the best VPNs for Warzone bot lobbies. I’ve repeated these tests on Warzone for mobile, as well as PS5 and PC. Since I’m a long-time COD fan, I’ve also been able to test with both Warzone 2.0 and 3.0. While testing, I was specifically looking for VPNs that checked the following boxes:
- Extensive server network. Only premium VPNs will have servers in niche locations like Singapore, Kenya, and Nigeria, where you can easily avoid bot lobbies. I examined and tested each server network at length to identify easy bot lobby locations and check that servers were fully functional.
- Excellent speeds. Low latency and high download rates reduce in-game lag, which is crucial for competitive online shooters. My chosen Warzone VPNs all offer lightning-fast speeds that can easily support HD gaming.
- Tight security. No matter how secure the Call of Duty game is itself, you are still exposed to a variety of threats. A Warzone VPN can protect you by keeping you anonymous with AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, and IP and DNS leak prevention. I checked that each VPN has these features, but I also conducted IP and WebRTC leak tests to ensure no VPN leaked your location – NordVPN, Surfshark, and Proton VPN are airtight.
- No-logs policy. I don’t know about you, but I want my online activities kept hidden from everyone, including my internet and VPN service providers. That's why I've focused on providers that don’t collect any data about you or your sessions. Bonus points if this policy is audited independently by trusted third parties.
- Router support. A significant portion of players engages in this battle royale through consoles. The only way to be able to use a VPN with Xbox and PlayStation hardware is through your router. The provider of your choice should support and have instructions on how to set up the VPN on this device.
- Value for money. Just because a service is expensive, this doesn’t make it better than the cheaper VPN options. Price is very much a factor that I included in choosing appropriate VPNs for Warzone bot lobbies.
Currently, NordVPN is the top choice against leaks, ISP throttling, and DDoS attacks. Besides, its global server network will let you find bot lobbies easily and play SBMM-free.
CoD Warzone: bot lobbies and SBMM
Warzone’s bot lobbies are different from the classic definition of the term. In this multiplayer title, these are lobbies filled specifically with unskilled players. These people are relatively new to the game, so they have a low K/D ratio until they learn the ropes.
But how does Warzone throw all these newbies together? Everything’s done via the skill-based matchmaking system (or simply SBMM). It’s well known by now the game pits together players with similar kill/death ratios to make everything more fair. But if you want to relax after a hard day, going against opponents that are as good as you is frustrating.
That’s why most people look for ways to bypass SBMM and make it into easier Warzone bot lobbies. VPN software is very handy in this case as it lets you virtually jump to other locations and find said lobbies. But only a few providers are capable of doing this effectively.
How to get bot lobbies in Warzone with a VPN?
- Get the best VPN for Warzone. I recommend NordVPN, now 74% off!
- Install the VPN app on your computer. If you mostly play CoD: Warzone on PlayStation or Xbox consoles, you’ll have to configure the VPN on your router manually.
- Choose a server in a country with fewer Warzone players or where it is currently too late or too early to play games. Singapore, Kenya, and Nigeria are just a few of the many suitable options.
- Start CoD: Warzone and check if the country is the same as your VPN server. You can check the region in the Settings menu under the Network section.
-
Search for a match with a good ping and have fun!
Best VPN location for Warzone bot lobbies
The best VPN locations for bot lobbies in Warzone are Singapore, Kenya, and Nigeria. I tallied more easy bot games here than anywhere else. However, I also had some success with Cambodia and Kyrgyzstan, thanks to the time zone differences compared with the UK.
Warzone VPN country | Best for bot lobbies? |
Singapore | ✅Yes |
Kenya | ✅Yes |
Nigeria | ✅Yes |
Cambodia | ✅Yes |
Kyrgyzstan | ✅Yes |
Taiwan | ✅Yes |
Vietnam | ✅Yes |
India | ✅Yes |
Turkey | ✅Yes |
Egypt | ✅Yes |
Remember these important points for finding the best locations if you do some of your own testing:
- Connect to a different time zone. If you’re in the US and connect to Chile after work, you will likely be matched with local players with a similar KD ratio. Therefore, I suggest picking a country in another time zone and playing when it’s between 6:00 AM and noon there.
- Don't stray too far from home. Choosing a VPN server on the other side of the world will significantly increase latency. Also, if you’re surrounded by countries where the game is popular, connecting to them won’t help get easy bot lobbies. Look for a suitable middle option.
Players who dig deep enough will find that there are several countries with a higher chance of getting bot lobbies. Some of these are Egypt, Vietnam, Turkey, India, and Taiwan. But be aware that easier matches are not a guarantee since these locations have an influx of players using a VPN, just like you.
All in all, you should find the best VPN location for bot lobbies on your own, evaluating distance, latency, and time zone.
How to use Warzone VPN on Xbox or PS5 console?
You can use Warzone VPNs on console via two different methods. The first involves using your PC as a VPN-protected router, while the second uses your console.
Set up Warzone VPN: PC method
This isn't my preferred choice, as it can give you a slightly slower connection since your internet is being routed through your PC's hotspot network. Nonetheless, it might work well for you – here are the steps I used:
- Connect to NordVPN. I recommend choosing one of the best locations for bot lobbies I've identified, including Singapore, Kenya, and Nigeria.
- Go to your PC’s Network settings. Enable your Mobile Hotspot.
- Connect to the hotspot with your console. If you're already using a LAN connection like me, switch your PS5 or Xbox over to the hotspot connection.
- Now, your console is using NordVPN. Since your console is using the VPN-protected hotspot to connect, you'll be able to find bot lobbies in your chosen server location.

Set up Warzone VPN: Router method
Personally, I prefer this option because it can give you a faster connection. Not to mention, it means that my phone is simultaneously protected so long as I use Wi-Fi. Here's how you can install a VPN on your router, using NordVPN as the perfect example:
- Download the VPN server configuration files you'll need. I found NordVPN really helpful because they publish a website page with all the details you'll need.
- Go to your router's IP address. This is usually 192.168.1.1, but if that doesn't work, check the back of your router.
- Log into your router using the credentials on the back. This will let you access the VPN configuration settings you'll need.
From here, I recommend checking out my team's well-written guide to setting up a VPN on your router. This contains all the steps you'll need to use Warzone VPN on console and all your other devices at the same time.
Can I use a free VPN for Warzone bot lobbies?
While free VPNs for Warzone bot lobbies exist, I recommend that you steer clear of them. Free VPNs have limitations that include slow speeds and limited data – both will frag your fun in seconds, as you’ll be too laggy to play, or get cut off altogether. There are also a handful of Warzone-branded VPNs that are seriously lacking in key areas – particularly security and protecting your data – and you should ideally avoid them.
However, if you’re on a tight budget, you can always go for reputable VPNs with free trials. With top gaming VPNs, like NordVPN, you’ll get access to the complete server and feature list, ensuring the best experience, even for the limited testing duration. Once one ends, you can either continue for a whole month risk-free or simply hop on to the next provider.
Warzone VPN not working: how to fix it
So, you’re connected to a VPN server, and the game is up and running like usual. But for some reason, you’re still finding yourself in the same lobbies with veteran players you’ve been trying to avoid in the first place. You can resolve this VPN problem by doing some troubleshooting:
- Change the server. Activision might've blacklisted the one you’ve chosen. Simply pick another server and remember to reload Warzone as well.
- Check for leaks. If your actual IP address or DNS requests are visible, then getting easier lobbies in Warzone won’t be possible. There are plenty of websites that test for leaks. If that is the case, ensure all VPN security features are turned on.
- Update the VPN. Outdated software isn’t the best in terms of functionality and can hinder your attempts to bypass SBMM. Check if the VPN has any pending updates.
- Reinstall TAP drivers. Those who tried installing multiple VPNs on their routers probably corrupted these drivers in the process. Delete the current ones and get a fresh batch.
- Contact VPN support. It’s possible the VPN itself just isn’t cut out for Warzone. You’ll get a clear answer (or further troubleshooting tips) by getting in touch with customer support.
And if the issue persists, consider subscribing to a reliable VPN that works as intended. You’ll enjoy a seamless gaming experience without these pesky issues with premium services that were tested with the battle royale.
Bottom line
Call of Duty: Warzone is a top-tier game, but even the greatest players get tired of competing each night. Sometimes you just want to chill and enjoy a leisurely evening with your buddies. Unfortunately, finding easy bot lobbies just for fun is an arduous task. That’s due to SBMM creating matches based on your Kill/Death ratio.
To avoid SBMM and play Warzone in easy lobbies, you'll need to use a reliable VPN with unlimited bandwidth, tops speeds, and tight security. My personal choice for best Warzone VPN is NordVPN, which currently has a 74% discount. Throughout my tests with Warzone on PS5, I had instant, easy access to easy bot lobbies and my connection never suffered. So, choose NordVPN for smooth, lag-free games with easier opponents for ranking.
