Best Kodi addons

Best Kodi addons

Kodi is a great streaming service, opening up a galaxy of entertainment options – but on its own, it can be fairly limited. And that’s no surprise. Kodi was designed to be customized by its users, via a library of “add-ons” which come with different tools and specialties.

Because of this, every Kodi user should optimize their add-on library to make the most of their streaming system. But with so many to choose from, where should you start?

We’ve been there and had the same problems, which is why we’ve put together a guide to the best Kodi add-ons for users to install. This Kodi add-ons list features options for music lovers, film fans, sports obsessives, and many more types of user, so there’s sure to be something for you here.

A quick security reminder before using the latest Kodi add-ons

Before you dive in, it’s a good idea to offer a security reminder. As you may know, Kodi has come under fire from copyright holders, causing some top Kodi add-ons to be taken down (although don’t worry – there’s still plenty to choose from).

If you use any of the selections in our Kodi add-ons list, it’s essential to take action to protect your privacy. So be sure to install a good Kodi VPN, before you start streaming. That way, copyright holders will find it far tougher to track what you watch, protecting you against the (remote) risk of prosecution.

Anyhow, with that out of the way, let’s explore what the best add-ons for Kodi have to offer.

1. Magic Dragon

Let’s start with a true all-in-one add-on, which spans sports, movies, news, TV shows, and much more. Magic Dragon is the portal you need to get started, opening up vast libraries of films and current shows, with numerous fast, working streams for popular content. Many of the older front ends have suffered over the past two years, losing streams and generally becoming hard to use. At the moment, Magic Dragon is as reliable as they come.

2. Keymap Editor

One of the most useful of all Kodi TV add-ons, the keymap editor lets you take control of the way you navigate the Kodi GUI. With this simple tool on your system, you’ll be able to remap button presses and functions, setting up shortcuts to the content you love. That way, you can save time and make using Kodi as simple as a standard TV remote.

3. The BBC iPlayer

Every user should make the BBC’s iPlayer one of their first add-ons for Kodi. As you probably know, the iPlayer has revolutionized the way we view BBC content, delivering classic shows, offering recent shows on replay, and making it easy to watch series. The unofficial iPlayer WWW add-on brings the full iPlayer experience to Kodi boxes, including BBC radio.

4. PlayOn

One of the best Kodi add-ons for movies, PlayOn brings together the web’s most popular streaming services. From Amazon and Netflix to HBO Now and Hulu, you’ll find them on the PlayOn database. Just for the record, this isn’t an illegal service in any way: PlayOn requires subscriptions to access its content, but there’s no better way to switch between major platforms.

5. Open SubTitles

Another one of the best Kodi add-ons for movies, OpenSubtitles does what the name indicates – offering high quality, user-submitted subtitles for a vast library of movies. The amount of work that has gone into the database is truly staggering, and there are usually multiple options for popular films, including languages other than English. If you love French, Italian, or Japanese cinema, it’s a must-have option from the Kodi add-ons list.

6. The Movie Database

Another one of the top Kodi add-ons for movie fans, the Movie Database features a huge array of films and synchs up to the famous Internet Movie Database. Browse through thousands of films with user-created fanart, check out trailers before you watch, and compare ratings for different movies. If you aren’t sure what you want to watch, it’s a fantastic tool to have – and the scraper delivers reliable streams across all genres.

7. SHOUTCast 2

An absolute must-have for music and radio fans, SHOUTCast 2 lets you tune into over 50,000 radio stations from all over the world. Stations are divided according to style, music genres, and location, and there’s also a handy “top 500” ranking to separate the elite broadcasters from the also-rans. And there are features you won’t find with radios, such as the ability to search all current channels for specific tracks. Definitely one of the best music add-ons for Kodi.

8. Trakt

One for all TV lovers to add to their Kodi library, Trakt will be incredibly useful for people who lose track of what they have watched, and which episodes are left to view. The app keeps a log of which shows you’ve watched and makes recommendations based on gaps in your viewing history – so no series should be left incomplete. Calendar tools are also included, ensuring that you don’t miss hot new shows no matter which channel broadcasts them.

9. Exodus Redux

Exodus is a legendary name in the world of Kodi streaming. For a long time, it was the number one scraper, delivering all kinds of content on a reliable basis. The authorities took down the original Exodus, but now there’s a new kid in town: Exodus Redux. Enhanced in every way, this new iteration specializes in hooking entertainment fans up with HD TV and movies, including all of the latest offerings.

10. Nemesis

Similar to Exodus, Nemesis is just as popular, and many users will want to install both apps. This is one of the top Kodi TV add-ons, bringing HD broadcasts of the latest shows as soon as they become available, while there are well-populated Sports and Music Zones, and no shortage of incredible movies as well.

11. 9Anime

A much more niche choice, 9Anime is among the best Kodi add-ons for animation fans. If you’re into Japanese Anime, this is a must download, putting you in touch with the latest anime creations across every single genre. You can subscribe to channels which regularly post high-quality content, or just go with the flow and rely on the most popular anime shows. It’s all there, in HD video.

12. USTV Now

These days, American TV is experiencing a golden age, with some of the greatest shows ever made wowing audiences across the world. But accessing US shows abroad isn’t that easy – which is where USTV Now comes in handy. Another option from our Kodi add-ons list which requires a subscription fee, USTV Now is worth it. From HBO and NBC to Fox, ABC and PBS, it lets you enjoy the full American cable experience wherever you are.

13. Fite.tv

Whether you’re into MMA, WWF Wrestling, pro boxing, or kickboxing, Fite.tv is one of the latest Kodi add-ons that you won’t want to miss. Designed for serious fighting fans, this add-on always has the biggest PPV attractions and undercards, not to mention bouts from all over the world. So whenever you need a dose of martial arts action, there should be something to enjoy.

14. The Shout Factory

One of the best things about the world of streaming is the ability to check out content from way back in the deep history of entertainment. Shout! Factory TV for Kodi lets you do just that, offering thousands of videos of classic TV. So if you’re nostalgic for the Brady Bunch, want to laugh with Monty Python, or need your fix of Dynasty, it’s the app to have.

15. YouTube

No list of the best Kodi add-ons would be complete without mentioning the granddaddy of streaming: YouTube. Unsurprisingly, fans of the streaming giant have come up with a slick add-on which seamlessly integrates the endless library available on YouTube with Kodi devices. So you can flick between movies and TV shows, and your favorite Vloggers. It’s also one of the best music add-ons for Kodi, providing access to millions of tracks.

16. Loyal Books

Not everyone wants to use Kodi to watch action movies, martial arts, or sports. You can also use it to access more relaxing, sophisticated content, if that’s your style. For example, Loyal Books is one of our favorite options on the Kodi add-ons list. It provides access to over 7,000 audiobooks, spanning pretty much every genre. So whether you’re a sucker for romance, or you love espionage novels, you’ll be sure to find something.

17. Met Office

The Met Office is the UK’s official weather forecaster, but did you know that it has a pretty amazing Kodi add-on? This add-on is one of the most practical around, delivering up to the minute weather updates for all regions of the world, whenever they are needed. So you can call up a forecast when deciding whether to hit the shops or sit it out and wait for the clouds to clear.

18. Seren

Seren is a cutting-edge scraper and front end which offers real competition for big names like Nemesis. In this case, you’ll find a range of innovative features, from auto-resuming TV shows when they cut out, to high-end torrenting which makes streaming HD a breeze. Speed is generally a major strength of Seren, so if you’ve tried other options and can’t achieve smooth streaming, it’s well worth trying.

19. Joker Sports

So far, we haven’t really explored the latest Kodi add-ons for sports fans – but don’t worry, there are some pretty awesome options. The best of the bunch could well be Joker Sports, which integrates with sporting torrents across the web, ensuring that you can watch any EPL, cricket, NBA, NFL or tennis matches that are taking place. All without paying a penny.

20. Covenant

Another add-on which resembles Exodus and Nemesis, Covenant may well have an even wider spread of movies to watch – and more reliable downloading as well. The GUI is incredibly clean, both in terms of graphics and ease of use, and Covenant also links neatly with Trakt, so you can avoid missing out on a single episode.

21. At the Flix

Right up there with the best Kodi add-ons for movies, At the Flix brings the real cinema-going experience into ordinary living rooms. Located at the Maverick TV repo, this add-on brings together a vast library of classic and contemporary movies – all clearly divided by genre and rating. But it’s more than that, providing sports, TV shows, and documentaries aplenty.

22. NBA League Pass

Finally, one for sports heads. If you love on-court action, the NBA League Pass is a slam dunk app to add to your Kodi setup. It allows you to watch any NBA matches, wherever you happen to be. But it is one of those add-ons for Kodi which requires a subscription fee, so if you’re on a budget, check out other sports streaming add-ons first.

Create a customized Kodi configuration with the perfect add-ons

There you have it. All of these top Kodi add-ons have been tested recently, and deliver an incredible array of entertainment features. However, be aware that add-ons come and go, and as 2024 progresses, it makes sense to check back for updates. Whatever happens, you can be sure that new versions of your favorite add-ons will appear. But you may need to refresh your apps to ensure your supply of sports, movies, and TV shows doesn’t run dry.

With so many Kodi add-ons it’s hard to make a decision about which one to choose. Your list of 22 options with great descriptions makes it a lot easier for me to decide. I’m going to try out USTV Now. It sounds like just what I’ve been looking for. Thanks for the great information!

I guess Kodi also wants to be a pacesetter in the entertainment industry and it has a lot to do to make that happen which is also possible probably after a few years. Nice post you crafted actually. You guys rock

If you’re using it with third-party addons and watching copyrighted content, then yes, it is risky. Of course it depends where you’re located: some countries enforce copyright law more strictly than others.

Hey, thank for including an actual list of VPNs for Kodi. I started using it a lot lately and I do want to grab a VPN for it so I can keep my privacy intact. For the addons Open Subtitles and Exodus Redux are a must use. I also like 9Anime but that’s just me.
