How to watch Rugby World Cup live online

Rugby World Cup

The 2019 Rugby World Cup will take place from 20 September to 2 November in Japan. There are many ways to stream this event, but not all of them are free, and not all might be available in your location.

Below you’ll find the best ways to stream RWC 2019 from anywhere by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

How to watch the Rugby World Cup in the US

NBC Sports Gold is the official broadcaster of Rugby World Cup 2019 in the US. The package for all 48 games cost $199, or you can pay $29.99 per match.

You can watch it on Apple iOS & tvOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Xfinity X1, Chromecast, and NBCSportsGold.com website.

Payment options include PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. The subscription can also be purchased as a gift.

NBC Sports Gold subscription works in the US only, so if you are abroad during Rugby World Cup, you’ll need to use a VPN to get an American IP address. We recommend NordVPN , which offers good speeds and great security, along with an industry-leading 5,700+ servers in 60 countries.

NordVPN

Flawless privacy practices, advanced security features, and reliable geo-unblocking capabilities make NordVPN the undisputed industry leader. Whatever your needs, this VPN has you covered – all starting from just $3.30/month.
  • Excellent security
  • Great server list
  • Awesome for Netflix
  • Good for torrenting
  • Very easy to use
  • Affordable prices

How to stream the Rugby World Cup in the UK

ITV Hub is the official broadcaster of Rugby World Cup 2019 in the UK. The best thing about it? It’s free! There’s also an ad-free version for £3.99 ($4.9) per month which also allows downloading on iOS and has a 7-day free trial.

Speaking of supported platforms, there’s plenty: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, smart TVs, Roku, Xbox One, and nVidia Shield, to name but a few.

Both free and paid versions allow watching live programming in the UK territory only. This means that you’ll need a VPN to stream RWC on ITV Hub from other countries. We suggest NordVPN which has thousands of servers in 60 countries and also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Watching the Rugby World Cup in Canada online

TSN is the official broadcaster of Rugby World Cup 2019 in Canada. All games will be split across TSN2, TSN5, and online (TSN.ca and TSN Direct). The price of TSN Direct is $18.8/month – and there are no refunds. It also means that you need to have a cable or another live streaming service that offers TSN2 and TSN5 to watch all 48 games.

TSN Direct is available on your computer, mobile device, Apple TV, Samsung SmartTV, and Xbox One.

Watching Rugby World Cup on TSN.ca or TSN Direct is possible only if you’re in Canada. To stream from another country, youse a VPN to spoof your IP address.

Streaming Rugby World Cup 2019 in Australia live

Being a true rugby country, Australia will have three options to stream Rugby World Cup this year – TenPlay, Fox Sports, and Kayo Sports. All three are geo-blocked outside Australia, but you can still watch them with a VPN. We recommend NordVPN , which has 240+ servers in Australia and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

TenPlay logo

1. TenPlay

TenPlay will only air 10 matches, 5 of them played by the Australian team. The price is $7.5/month, and there are no refunds.

TenPlay has apps for iOS, Android, Apple TV, Telstra TV, Samsung TV, Android TV, Fetch TV FreeviewPlus, Chromecast, and Xbox One. Watching in your computer’s browser is also possible.

Fox Sports logo

2. Fox Sports

Fox Sports will show all 48 games on their Foxtel Now platform, but that comes for $26.90/month. The good thing it has a 10-day money-back guarantee.

Foxtel Now supports Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Android TV, Sony TV, Chromecast, AirPlay, TelstraTV, and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, the app has issues with Android version 10, so make sure you test it thoroughly until the money-back period ends.

Kayo Sports logo

3. Kayo Sports

Another option for streaming Rugby World Cup 2019 is Kayo Sports. The price is $16.80/month for two simultaneous connections and $23.50/month for three. And now the best part – Kayo Sports comes with a 14-day free trial.

Kayo Sports supports Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Apple TV, Android TV, Telstra TV, and Chromecast. So if you’re not an owner of Fetch TV or some other device that’s not supported, this streaming service is hands-down the best way to watch Rugby World Cup in Australia.

How to watch Rugby World Cup 2019 in New Zealand

Spark Spot has a World Cup Pass ready for those in New Zealand. Until September 10, you can grab an early bird Tournament Pass for $50.46. Later, it will cost $56.77. There’s also an option to stream selected games only for $15.76 per match, starting from September 20. The main issue with Spark Spot is that they only accept New Zealand credit and debit cards.

Spark Spot supports Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Apple TV, Chromecast, Samsung Smart TV, Sony Android TV, Panasonic Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Freeview SmartVU, and Freeview A2 recorder.

To watch Rugby World Cup 2019 at the highest quality, you’ll need at least 15 Mbps download speed. Lower quality streaming is available with 6 Mbps. If you are abroad, make sure you have such speeds with a VPN turned-on to circumvent geo-restrictions.

Just looked up the world cup schedule so I can see as many of the remaining world cup matches. I was surprised to see Australia lose to Wales and I think we will still have a few more upsets. I love rugby union or rugby because it perfectly mixed toughness with class and respect.

Thanks for the information man. I have such a hard time finding rugby streams in America. I moved here from the UK to be with my wife and it has been a pain since. Not because of my wife (lol) but because of my love for rugby. I rarely see it on TV in USA and I am not sure why. I am guessing it would have to come down to TV rights or something. Anyways, thanks again! Going to make use of this to watch.

Isn’t that 48 game package a bit expensive? I mean $199? Really? I want to see all the rugby fixtures but I don’t want to pay that much. Nord looks like a great VPN to use for all the games today but I’m probably going to use Fox Sports.

I recently watched some interviews on YouTube about rugby and it all sounded pretty interesting, so I’ve been thinking about watching the Rugby World Cup online. Thanks for providing so much information about the matches! Streaming free on ITV Hub with a VPN sounds perfect for me.

Hey, I’m no fan of Rugby but I’m a soccer fan, are those strategies apply the Soccer World cup too?

Hello! In general, the same strategies for watching Rugby World Cup should apply to FIFA World Cup 2022. But having in mind that’s three more years until the event, a list of broadcasters and best VPNs might change significantly. If you’re not a big fan of rugby but would like to see the Rugby World Cup Final, my suggestion would be to get NordVPN, connect to a UK server, and watch ITV Hub’s free stream.

Without VPN pro I would miss most of the live games as they are not broadcast on my TV and only see highlights on the news or on the internet. My favorite part about the live rugby streaming is that it is free and available world wide. The guidelines about which times the games will be broadcast help me to get the USA broadcast Times correct so I won’t miss any of the games.

Thanks for your opinion!
