How to spoof location? The pretender’s guide

How to spoof location? The pretender's guide

In modern times, the internet has become extremely regulated. Many people believe that it has become way too regulated, and have built corporations to combat this. Spoofing location is a great way to overcome many of the limitations that internet regulations place on you.

Today, it is easier than ever to spoof your location by using a VPN. We will take you through all of the advantages that go along with being able to perform a location spoof. We will also recommend software that you can use to change your IP address to another country and spoof your location.

How your Location is determined on the Internet

Every time you connect your device to the internet, you are assigned an IP address. This IP address is not only used to identify your location, but also your device. We will tell you how to use a VPN to change your location and easily trick the internet into thinking that you are from an area that you are not.

Whenever you connect to a service that has location restrictions, it looks at your IP address and then uses a database to identify where you are connected from. If you can somehow trick the server that you are connecting to into believing that the IP that it is sending to is in a country which the said service allowed access to, then you can use that service.

How a VPN changes your location

When you begin using a VPN, the data you send is first sent to a remote server hosted at a location of your choice. Then, the VPN server is the one that sends the data to the server that you want to connect to. This way, you can perform a location spoof and make it seem like you are connected from a country or place other than where you are at.

Spoofing location has become very easy with the advent of the VPN. When you use a VPN to change your IP address to another country, you also get a wealth of other security benefits which are just not present when browsing the internet with a direct connection. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits that a VPN brings you.

Once you change your IP address to another country, you can access a wealth of content such as Netflix US (which has more content than any other region). You will also be able to use a VPN to get better deals in localized stores. For example, you can buy games for a much lower price from the ‘Steam’ store if you access the Indian or the Russian store.

Advantages of using a VPN

When you use a VPN service, you are not only spoofing your location but also getting a wealth of other benefits. To get an advantage in the extremely competitive VPN market, the industry leaders have built in a plethora of features into their products so that they can achieve an edge in the market share.

Apart from being able to spoof your location, a VPN will also encrypt your data with bank-grade AES-256 encryption which will ensure that your data cannot be accessed even if it is intercepted. This way, you can protect all the information you send online, including your passwords and credit card information.

A VPN will also protect you from any spying that goes on by the government and similar law enforcement agencies. It is now possible for many governments to actively tap into your communications. Using a VPN will let anyone watching know that you are using a VPN, but there will be no records of your browsing history.

How to use a VPN to change a location

Using a VPN is now easier than ever. One of the major strides that VPN companies have made in recent years has been in the user-interface department of their software. Gone are the days when you needed to have in-depth knowledge of IT to be able to mask your connection, as you can simply click a few buttons and be done with it.

The first thing that you need to do is to choose a VPN provider. There are quite a few, and we will recommend a couple for you later on. Once you have decided on a provider, you can purchase their service and download their app. Most of the VPNs offer applications on a multitude of platforms, including Android and iOS.

When you have downloaded the app, you can log in with your credentials and choose a server. After that, it is as simple as clicking ‘Connect,’ and voila, you have learned how to change your IP address to another country.

Since there are hundreds of different VPNs available in the market currently, we want to take you through a couple of them and explain why we recommend them to you.

CyberGhost

CyberGhost is considered to be one of the best VPNs in the world. It has powerful security and over 5,700 servers in over 90 countries. You also have access to 24/7 live chat support, and you can use it to access Netflix as well as torrents through its dedicated Peer2Peer network.

There’s only one problem that you may run into using CyberGhost – you might be unable to get it to work in China. Other than that, it’s a great VPN.

I can hear people saying, “Why would you spoof your location?” and “What do you have to hide?” Besides personal information (which is stored on my devices), I just like the peace of mind of knowing people can’t dox me or harass me when I go online. Those are reasons enough for me.

My main concern about using a VPN is that it will decrease the speed of my internet connection. My understanding is that if the distance between your location and the physical location of the server you are connecting to is far, it would affect your speed. So if I change my location to a different country, wouldn’t that make the server far away?

That’s a neat life hack, using a spoofed location to access better deals in things like Steam! I’ll have to hunt for other bargains like that.

I really don’t have any activity to hide online, but I like to spoof my location just to feel like I’m not being watched. I use IPVanish, and I know there are other services which are better but I’m satisfied.

Spoofing seems like a smart thing for anyone who goes online to do. Anyone know if this helps protect you from those jerks who dox people? It seems like a good tool to elude nosy people online whether you’re commenting on a site or browsing in general. I hope someone answers my question.

I need to learn this! I do not like the way that people stalk each other and do anything to find them. It just drives me crazy.

The benefits of using a VPN on any device cannot be overemphasized. I subscribed to Cyber ghost, and I must say that it gives me access to 24 hours of live chat support, Netflix as well as torrents through its dedicated Peer2Peer network.

I’ve always been really uncomfortable knowing places like Facebook have my location… I didn’t know spoofing was a thing, but I’m on board!

I’ll look up CyberGhost and NordVPN, they seem like good options. Are they also safe? I don’t want my personal or sensitive information leaking. Also, prices? How much do they cost? Like a basic subscription, for example. Thanks!

NordVPN is the best service in the industry, imo. Your information will be completely safe, because they’re in a country that prioritizes privacy, and it costs about 2 bucks a month if you end up with the three year plan. I would seriously consider going with NordVPN.

Thanks for your opinion!
