What is geo-blocking?

In the digital age, geo-blocking is seen often among several websites and streaming services. It is a security measure which essentially restricts access to content based on a user’s geographical location. This is very unfair for users who wish to view content from a particular country but aren’t able to do so due to where they are based in the world.

You shouldn’t have to miss out on great content simply for being in a different part of the world. So, if you wish to view content that is available on TV Tokyo when you are outside Japan, you will need to make use of a VPN service. You can find out more about how a VPN works and why you need one later on in the article.

How to watch TV Tokyo

TV Tokyo is the flagship station of the huge Japanese TV network which is named TX. Specializing predominantly in anime, this particular station began broadcasting back in 1964. Since then, it has grown substantially in terms of its popularity. This is hardly surprising given it airs shows such as the aforementioned Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, both of which are incredibly popular around the world.

Watching the shows online is plain and simple, thanks to the online stream. However, you will find that you cannot access the stream if you are based outside of Japan. If you’d like to bypass the geo-restrictions, you’ll need to utilize a VPN service. Continue reading, and you’ll find out exactly why you need one and how they work.

Why do I need a VPN?

Are you looking to watch TV Tokyo outside of Japan? If so, then you will probably struggle to do so due to the geo-blocking measures which are in place. With that in mind, it can be said that you will need to use a method which will allow you to bypass the restrictions. How can this be done? Well, it just so happens that a VPN is the perfect solution!

When you use a VPN, you can effectively change the location of your device, even if you are thousands of miles away from a particular country. So, if you’d like to watch TV Tokyo while you’re outside Japan, you can simply choose a VPN server which is based in Japan, and away you go! Soon enough, you’ll be able to enjoy all of the content on TV Tokyo just as you would at home.

This is great if you’re doing your own subs! I add my own subs to Pokémon episodes as they come out just to practice my Japanese. It’s very fun, and it helps me indulge my inner Pokémon nerd, haha! Translation can be tricky, so you need lots of practice!

Finally, the purest way to watch anime, haha! You could probably watch a lot of this stuff with crunchyroll – it uploads those things pretty much the same day they release in Japan, a lot of the time already subbed, but it might be interesting if you’re brushing up on your Japanese or taking a class to watch it this way. Plus I know some students from Japan studying at my school who might want to know about this…

Thanks for your opinion!
