Best Torrent sites for Mac

Looking for the best Mac torrent sites? We’re here to help. Torrent sites are services that allow files to be shared online at a faster rate, by splitting it up into a ‘swarm’ of tiny pieces which can be shared across multiple computers at a time.

Torrents can be used for many purposes – legitimate and ‘less legitimate’! Most commonly, users choose them to share music, movies and other files which may be copyrighted. Whatever your views on the sharing of copyright material, the fact is that torrents exist and can be used for any type of file share.

There are various Mac torrent services available, but the providers change all of the time. Really good Mac torrent websites can suddenly close down and plenty have done so, or changed, in the past three years.

However, we have done the hard work for you! Below you’ll find our list of high-performing Mac torrents that are reliable and secure.

Each has its own set of features that you should research before using, to check that it is right for your needs. So, armed with a high-quality VPN for Mac to anonymize your IP when torrenting, let’s jump right in – you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the speeds, privacy, and quality of today’s torrent offers, especially if you haven’t used one in a while.

However, remember to stay safe while torrenting. The following VPNs are our top 5 suggestions for torrenting:

The Pirate Bay

  • 3.2 MB a second average download speed:
  • This is the world’s most popular torrent tracker and it has managed to evade a long-running series of blocks and shutdown attempts. Thanks to its use of Trusted user, or VIP, tags, you can easily see which torrents are safe and legitimate.
  • The Pirate Bay is a top rated torrent website and it has millions of varied torrents, along with magnet link support. Even better, the user interface is extremely simple and ideal for beginners.
  • Just be aware that the domain regularly changes and you may find that the website goes offline occasionally. However, the tech is always online – and you can also search for a proxy website online. Or, you can try the Pirate Bay alternatives as well.
  • We particularly like:The fact you can easily see safe, trusted and legitimate torrents, and the user-friendly interface which is easy to use.

RARBG

  • 2.3 MB a second average download speed
  • This Mac torrent site is ideal if you are looking for top-quality torrents of the latest content. It is constantly adding to its content and is very easy to use. Now, its popularity does mean that it has been blocked quite widely in countries that include the UK, Denmark and Portugal.
  • Don’t worry though: you can use a VPN service to bypass the blocks and use it without a problem.
  • We particularly like:The fantastic range of new content, including the latest films and music releases – available at high quality.

1337x

  • 1.9 MB a second average download speed
  • If you love browsing torrents to see what’s new and interesting, then this is the service for you, with a huge range of games, TV shows, films and music. As well as having a great content variety, the user interface is attractive and very easy to get to grips with, having recently been revamped.
  • If you’re not sure what content you want to look at, you’ll find that the service will help you easily – making it one of the world’s biggest torrent trackers globally. In fact, it’s so much in demand that Google has taken precautions to hide it in SERP results.
  • We particularly like:The fact that you can browse according to features such as new episodes, Oscar nominations, libraries and so forth. The recent rework also removed certain notable security risks, making it a lot safer to use.

TorLock

  • 3.5 MB a second average download speed
  • This is a great Mac torrent option if you like a big range of ebooks, anime and music. The interface is clutter-free and quick to get to grips with, and you can easily find the best available content by referring to the Top Picks list.
  • There are more than 4.8 million torrents to pick from, and you’ll also find some of the more unusual content that is less available on competitor sites.
  • We particularly like:The excellent user experience, particularly if you are after the latest reading material or anime series in high quality.

Torrentz2

  • 2.0 MB a second average download speed
  • This is a great Mac torrent if you love music, with a huge variety and millions of torrents available. The system is beautifully easy to use and the developers keep a purposely low profile, which makes it ideal if you want certainty.
  • Torrentz2 is the latest version of the highly popular Torrentz original. Again, the focus is very much on music and the original simple user interface is still in place. The magnet links have changed slightly but the service is still reliable and fun to use. If it’s not loading for any reason, try torrentz2.cc or torrentz2.eu.
  • We particularly like:The huge range of files for music lovers.

YTS

  • 2.2 MB a second average download speed
  • This is the Mac torrent of choice if you love films – both new and old. It offers simple sorting and has a superb search engine, with a sole focus on films. The massive range of titles, combined with the easy to use layout, makes it highly enjoyable to use.
  • Even better, the torrents don’t stress your bandwidth. This would be an absolute favorite if it wasn’t for the fact that YTS only offers movies.
  • We particularly like:The superb user interface and the fact that the service is ideal if you have limited bandwidth.

EZTV

  • 2.0 MB a second ave download speed
  • If you’re a TV addict then EZTV is your absolute first choice. Previously it went through a series of issues but today its extremely popular and has a large number of active users.
  • You’ll find all the latest hit TV reality shows, documentaries, dramas, sports, late night shows and more. The interface does look a little dated but it is very simple to use.
  • We particularly like:The hours of TV viewing enjoyment ahead of you!

But why aren’t all Mac torrents accessible

Some torrent websites have been shut down, such as TorrentProject and Kickass Torrents. Some were forced to close and others buckled under mounting pressure.

For example, Google no longer lists torrents on its search results and Chrome has applied Adblocks. Some of the biggest torrent sites are blocked entirely in some countries because of legal copyright issues.

How to get around the blocking issue

The good news is that you can still access blocked Mac torrents by using a VPN. This also allows you to stay anonymous while you do so, and the VPN service keeps you safe and secure at the same time.

NordVPN is a good option for a VPN that allows you to access a blocked torrent anonymously. The service is very secure and has fast connections. It also offers unlimited traffic across several thousand servers.

Remember that downloading material which is subject to copyright isn’t legal – although in most countries, torrenting remains legal. Consider the legality of what you are planning to do against freedom of choice and access to content.

If a Mac torrent site will meet your needs, use our guide to get you started and then review your favorites to work out which will best meet your needs. These sites are quick and easy to use and you’ll be finding the content that you want in no time.

TORLock sounds real fast compared to the other VPN’s. I don’t fool around with Mac’s because I’ve always been a PC person. I’ve never understood what’s so great about Macs. I worked somewhere that had them and they were overrated. VPN’s aren’t overrated though, especially the good ones like Express and NordVPN.

This is a great resource! Here’s hoping that these sites don’t get shut down now. Copyright is such a tricky business.

Thanks for the list, EZTV sounds great, I was looking for a TV torrent site lately and this one sounds interesting. Regarding PirateBay I’m not sure I would recommend that one, I know it has improved over the years but I always had problems with them.

Thank you for the updated list! That’s hard to find, since many great website close all the time. It’s a shame, but I’m glad to see that so many great options are still available!
