Easy Hide IP review
There are plenty of solid VPNs. However, only a few make it to the top. Be sure to check them out too.
Easy Hide IP VPN is a fine VPN if you need only the standard features and are willing to do some manual work to set it up. Read more in our in-depth Easy Hide IP review.
This is certainly a keyword-stuffing kind of VPN. The only way it could be more keywordy (and less friendly for humans) is if they called themselves Get Best VPN Now or something equally uncharming.
Besides the horrible name, this VPN looks like it was thrown together over the weekend by people who have real full-time jobs. It was bought out by Edelino Commerce Ltd (which also owns Anonine VPN, FrootVPN, BoxPN, and VPNTunnel), which is definitely based in the Seychelles.
It has 90+ servers in 26 countries, offering unlimited data, with up to 5 simultaneous connections. They keep no logs and have a 7-day money-back guarantee. They don’t support torrenting, and you can forget about Netflix or China. They have clients for Windows, Mac, Linux, routers, Android and iOS – although the mobile and routers require manual setup.
Is Easy Hide IP VPN safe to use?
For the most part, yes. First of all, we aren’t really sure where it’s based. Some reviews place it in London, which is in a 5 Eyes country. Also, unlike any other respected VPN service we’ve ever seen, there is no features page on its website, no protocols or encryption listed – nada.
A VPN service not claiming to have the most secure software ever created is a bit suspicious, but not listing any security features whatsoever is very strange. Their pricing page claims to have lots of protocols, and also 800 servers, but we show you below, in our Support section, why that’s mostly BS.
In actuality, Easy Hide IP VPN supports OpenVPN-TCP, OpenVPN-UDP, PPTP, and the Windows-only Classic protocol, which uses their proprietary protocol. They also use:
- OpenVPN/Stunnel
- IPSec IKEv2
- L2TP/IPSec
They don’t have a kill switch. They have a no-logging policy in place, but they also reserve the right to provide necessary information to legal authorities. They have tracking cookies, pixels, and other marketing-related third-party things on their site.
While it’s mostly safe, it’s not recommended for beginners. This is also true since some people are having trouble completely uninstalling the app from their PC.
Speed and performance
With 5,000 IP addresses spread out over 90 servers in 26 countries, speeds on Easy Hide IP are fine. We saw a roughly 70-80% speed drop-off when using OpenVPN.
On a base, non-VPN speed of about 300 Mbps, this was enough to get high-quality streaming, gaming, and nearly all regular uses. Unfortunately, as you’ll see below, you can’t really do that much with this VPN provider, so mostly you’ll be looking at regular, non-Netflix, non-BBC iPlayer, non-torrenting usage only.
Easy Hide IP for Netflix
This VPN does not work for Netflix in any country. In our tests, we got the dreaded “You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy..” message.
Luckily, we’ve already created a list of the best VPNs for Netflix enjoyment, and we definitely recommend you go check that out.
Easy Hide IP for torrenting
When it comes to torrenting, you can technically use this VPN. The real question here is if they outwardly support P2P, and more specifically torrenting.
This is the answer: they have no dedicated P2P servers. They do not even list P2P (or other varieties, like “peer-to-peer”) in their FAQ. As far as torrenting, their Terms of Service includes the agreement that by using Easy Hide IP VPN, users agree not to share copyright files. If they do, the VPN reserves the right to terminate their account.
Since torrenting often includes copyright files, we’d recommend staying away from this VPN if you’re a hardcore torrenter. For that, check out our best torrenting VPNs.
Easy Hide IP for China
That’s a no. They can’t even access Netflix, so it’s a given that they won’t be able to get around China’s Great Firewall.
If that’s what you’re into, we recommend you check out our list of the best VPNs for China.
Easy Hide IP VPN pricing
Easy Hide IP offers its users these three packages:
- 1 month at $5.95/month
- 12 months at $3.95/month
- 24 months plan at $2.77/month
Luckily, Easy Hide IP offers a bit more payment options than your standard VPN provider. Besides the usual credit card and PayPal, they also offer cryptocurrency (such as Bitcoin) and Perfect Money.
This allows for greater anonymity – and when you combine that with an anonymous email address (since your email is required), you can maintain your secret identity.
Customer support
As part of Edelino Commerce Inc., we expect there to be some overlap with that parent company’s other VPN products. Here, it seems that they share at least two things explicitly: the pricing page and the support staff.
For our Anonine review, we interacted with Veronika when we had questions about how many servers they actually had. Their servers page said 150, but their pricing page said 800:
For Easy Hide IP, we faced the same problem. Their main website states 90 servers, while their pricing page (the same layout as Anonine’s, by the way) showed 800 servers:
Our question was answered, within 10 minutes, by the same Veronika, it seems:
That’s actually all fine to share the same support staff over all your VPN products, but that means that the list of features on their pricing page is probably BS. Their FAQ isn’t very easy to navigate, and in total, it isn’t a user-friendly, beginner-friendly VPN offering.
Bottom line
This isn’t a great VPN, and before using it we were quite confused about what it actually offered, what it could or couldn’t do. After using it, we saw that it was pretty OK – another average offering from a company that makes average products.
We liked that it has industry-standard protocols, pretty OK speeds, and good, hard-working and responsive support staff. The price is also good for what it offers – although we can think of many better VPNs with much better pricing.
What we didn’t like was the lack of a kill switch, no support for Netflix, torrenting or China, unclear features, the manual setup for its mobile apps, and just overall the look and feel of the VPN.
We could recommend this VPN for you if, for some reason, you didn’t enjoy the 50+ better VPNs we’ve already reviewed.
